Galina Hayilyan had to leave her 3 houses in Artsakh without an owner, she did not manage to collect her belongings and came to Armenia with her son in slippers. In the framework of “Artsakh: Armenian Genocide 2023. Stories of Survivors” documentary project of Iravaban.net, the woman told about the difficulties she went through, and until now she spends the night in the car with her son.
On 19 September, when everything started, they went to the shelters, and after that to Stepanakert airport for evacuation. They crossed Hakari Bridge with difficulty and then came to Masis city. They lived in a relative’s house for a few days, but then they were asked to find a house for rent. She has been spending the night in the car with her son for several days now.
Mrs. Galina remembers how surprised she was at the abundance of grocery stores when she arrived in Goris after crossing the Hakari Bridge.
“We entered the store, we saw it was full of everything. We couldn’t believe that the price of a small can of natural juice natural could be 170 drams. We buy them for 1200 drams in Artsakh. As if we were ignorant and hadn’t seen anything,” the forcibly displaced woman from Artsakh says.
