The Reaction of the UN cannot be considered Sufficient: Mher Margaryan to Alice Wairimu Nderitu

Referring to the statement of the Special Adviser on 22 September, in which the latter warned about the crimes that threaten the civilian population as a result of military operations, including the dangers of genocide, the RA Ambassador emphasized that the current reaction of the UN bodies in connection with Azerbaijan’s aggression cannot be considered sufficient, emphasizing the issue of genocide prevention in this matter the more active involvement of the Office of the Special Adviser.

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia particularly emphasized that the distorted description of the situation by the mission, which visited the already depopulated Nagorno-Karabakh (Republic of Artsakh, ed.), coordinated by the UN Office in Azerbaijan, is used by the Azerbaijani side to cover up the ethnic cleansing and to exploit the role of the UN in it. A joint fact-finding visit with UN bodies was called to document the crimes committed by Azerbaijan against forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno Karabakh (Republic of Artsakh: ed.) and present accurate information.

The Special Adviser of the GC reaffirmed her readiness to make appropriate efforts and to involve in the activities carried out by the United Nations.
