Azerbaijani servicemen fired in the direction of the Charektar monastery. The Information System of the Mother See reported. The Caucasian Heritage Protection Organization shared the video of the shootings, informing that they also opened fire in the direction of the Monastery from an armored personnel carrier.

“Today, on 27 September, a video was shared on the X social website in which two Azerbaijani soldiers shoot at the Charektar monastery built in the 13th century.

The Mother See of Saint Etchmiadzin strongly condemns the policy adopted by Azerbaijan aimed at destroying the Armenian religious and cultural heritage of Artsakh. These and other similar actions show that Azerbaijan will continue its adopted policy in every possible way to destroy and eliminate the Armenian identity in Artsakh.

In this context, the talks about the peaceful coexistence of Armenians and Azerbaijanis in Artsakh become even more unrealistic. We draw the attention of all international structures dealing with the preservation of cultural heritage to what happened and demand that a proper response and assessment be given to the hapenning in order to prevent future similar culturally destructive incidents,” the Mother See’s message said.
