The Criminal Court of Appeals did not object to Vahagn Vermishyan’s Participation in the Court Session on the Confiscation of Property of Illicit Origin

Today, on 26 September, the Anti-Corruption Court held a hearing on the case of Vahagn Vermishyan, former Chief Architect of the city of Stepanavan, former Chairman of the Urban Development Committee.

According to Iravaban.net, new representatives of the respondents were involved in this session, lawyers Inga Sarafyan and Armen Melkumyan. They presented Vahagn Vermishyan’s handwritten letter from the detention center. In the letter, he stated that he renounces the other lawyers involved in the case.

The Presiding Judge Karapet Badalyan said that the Criminal Court of Appeals answered that they do not object to Vahagn Vermishyan’s participation in cases of confiscation of property of illicit origin in the Anti-Corruption Court.

“The process is quite time-consuming. 3 days before the session, the court must notify the penitentiary where Mr. Vermishyan is kept, so that they can ensure his presence,” the Judge said and asked the defendant side, whether Vahagn Vermishyan still wishes to appear at the sessions or not. The lawyers answer positively.

The representatives of the defendants also mentioned that they had been involved the day before and have not yet familiarized themselves with the materials of the case, they asked to postpone the court session.

Karapet Badalyan postponed the session, the next court session will be held on 6 October.
