Nikol Pashinyan on the signing of the Peace Treaty

The foreign policy of the Republic of Armenia is transparent. Today, on 17 September, Head of State Nikol Pashinyan said in a conversation with journalists.

“The Republic of Armenia cannot change the vector of foreign policy in the sense that the policy of the Republic of Armenia is always oriented according to the state interests of Armenia. Consequently, Armenia’s foreign policy is always marked,” he said.

Nikol Pashinyan did not comment on the statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, stressing that he prefers to comment on the statements of his colleagues.

“In my letter to Vladimir Putin, I presented our assessment of the situation, what I said during our 7-8 phone conversations this year,” he said.

The Prime Minister also referred to the border situation, noting that the assessment of the situation has not changed since the previous session of the Government.

“Unfortunately, no document is expected to be signed in Granada. Unfortunately, no. If a document was planned to be signed, it would mean that we considered that the document corresponds to the balanced interest of the Republic of Armenia and we are ready to sign it. We have said that the peace agenda is our priority and we want to sign an agreement with Azerbaijan as soon as possible, let’s say by the end of the year, the beginning of next year, and we are doing everything for it. I would very much like to tell you that yes, a document is going to be signed in Granada, but unfortunately, no. We hope that we will reach the solution of our problem. It is obvious that the extreme humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh has a negative impact on the peace process and the illegal blocking of the Lachin Corridor, we have lost a lot of time because of it,” he said.
