“Nork-Marash” Medical Center informs that an exceptional case has been found. The heart of a 14-year-old child is located on the right side of the chest.
“The patient is a boy, 14 years old. When applying to the “Nork-Marash” Medical Center, the complaint was the feeling of heart palpitations on the right side (according to the mother, the child noticed it 1 year ago while playing football).
During the echocardiogram, the child’s heart was on the right side, but it was not a normal dextrocardia, which made the doctor suspicious, in connection with which a contrast computed tomography of the chest was performed. The result was impressive.
The child had agenesis of the right lung (the lung was not developed, the right main bronchus, the right pulmonary artery and the right pulmonary veins were also missing, respectively), as a result of which the septum (including the heart) is located in the right half of the chest.
Such placement of the heart did not cause hemodynamic deviations, the child has a structurally healthy heart. The child was referred to a pulmonologist and an orthopedist for consultation, and he will be under dynamic control at the “Nork-Marash” Medical Center,” the Facebook post of the Medical Center said.
