The Armenian Team, which included 5 Students, has won 1 Silver and 4 Bronze Medals
The 53rd International Physics Olympiad was held in in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, on July 10-17, in which representatives of more than 80 countries participated.
The Armenian team, which included 5 students, won 1 silver and 4 bronze medals.
Hovsep Karapetyan, a 12th grade student of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia (NPUA) was awarded a silver medal.
It should be reminded that in 2022, Hovsep Karapetyan won a bronze medal at the International Physics Olympiad named after one of the greatest medieval scientists of the 9th century, mathematician and geographer Al Ferganl, held in Uzbekistan. He is a member of the Olympic team of the Polytechnic High School.
Earlier, in a conversation with Iravaban.net , the head of the Olympic group, Alfred Petrosyan, noted that the group has been operating since 1998, which regularly shows high results, in the last 2-3 years especially.
“The problems of the group are realistic enough. I am sure that the children who participated in the group classes will have a different approach to physics,” Petrosyan said.
The 2-3 hour classes 4-5 times a week have shown their results, and the group participants do not mind even having classes on Sundays.
Rector of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, Gor Vardanyan, also mentioned that they have a clear strategy to encourage students included in the Olympic group to highlight their successes.
According to him, as a small country, Armenia has connected its success with knowledge and its results. In order to stop or reduce the flow of students from Armenia, according to the rector, the educational systems should be brought to a proper level and professors from international educational institutions should be involved in the Armenian educational reality.
“We need to create those opportunities in our homeland. At that time, I am sure that many young people will choose the path of education in their homeland. We should strive to strengthen and empower educational institutions in the Armenian reality and bring them into line with international educational standards,” the Rector of the university said.
