Students and young professors of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia participated in exclusive distance learning courses conducted by the USC Viterbi – University of Southern California. On 12 June, at an event organized at the Polytechnic, they shared their impressions and received their certificates of participation in the course. The delegation from Southern California also participated in the event.
The modular courses were conducted on the topics of artificial intelligence and cyber security specialties. The duration of the courses was 8 weeks.
Philanthropists Garo Armen, Alexander Yesayan, Vahe Kuzoyan, Charles Ghailian and Armen Yemenidjian collected 130 thousand US dollars for the implementation of the project, thanks to which 28 representatives of the Polytechnic University got the opportunity to participate in that course.
Gor Vardanyan, rector of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, in his welcoming speech, noted that with the support of the guests, an opportunity was created to provide international education for the students and professors of the university.
“Our students have been waiting a long time for this day, so that the result of their suffering can be certified in the form of certificates. I am sure that these certificates, as a component of international continuing education, will be a great companion for further educational successes and initiatives,” he noted, thanking the attendees.
Alexander Yesayan, a member of the university’s board of trustees, expressed hope that the program will continue. According to him, the successful experience of other universities should contribute to the improvement of the quality of education in Armenian universities.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Literature, Art and Science-Armenian Studies of the University of Southern California, Armenian philanthropist Charles Ghailian expressed his gratitude to those present and noted that they have been visiting Armenia with their families for 15 years. “We will seek to find new areas, new opportunities and edges of cooperation. The polytechnic will continue to develop and have new achievements,” he said.

University of Southern California, also participated in the event.In his speech, he emphasized that technologies are developing extremely fast and they are important in solving existing problems, including safety and security.
“Students will confirm their dedication with their progress and work. I thank the management and teaching staff of the Polytechnic for their dedicated work,” the Dean said.
Further, the students who participated in the course shared their impressions and were handed certificates of participation in the course.
