A new type of reporting; report to public has been provided: MoJ

The unified electronic notification platform provides an opportunity to report the cases of corruption, conflict of interest, claims of incompatibility with the rules of ethics, and violations related to the declaration by an official.

As a result of the legislative amendments adopted on 7 December, 2022, the protection mechanisms provided by the legislation were specified.

The Ministry of Justice reported.

The whistleblower and his family members can take advantage of the protection measures defined by the criminal procedure legislation, even outside the criminal proceedings. In order to protect the whistleblower from harmful actions or their consequences, the relevant body ensures the confidentiality of information within its jurisdiction, creates sufficient conditions for the whistleblower’s unhindered performance of their official duties.

A whistleblower cannot be held liable for whistleblowing, unless his act involves a crime.

A new type of reporting has been provided – report to public, which is aimed to increase public awareness and strengthen trust in public administration bodies for the fight against corruption.

If the report by other types of reporting has not been processed in accordance with the law and within the time frame, the whistleblower can make the report known to the public through mass media.

The Human Rights Defender has been entrusted with the powers of tracking, monitoring and collecting data on the protection of whistleblowers.

At the same time, in order to have a complete picture of the activity of the whistleblowing system, the duty to summarize and publish the report and statistics related to whistleblowing within the framework of the annual report of the Human Rights Defender has been set.
