The decisions of the International Court of Justice are legally binding. Yeghishe Kirakosyan, representative of the Republic of Armenia on International Legal Matters, announced on the air of the Public TV Company.
According to him, Azerbaijan has another legal obligation, which was confirmed today by the court’s decision.
“This is a key development both in terms of security and law. The decision should be used politically by the Armenian side on all possible platforms. This proves that the demands presented by Armenia derive from international law and are fair,” Kirakosyan said.
In reply to the question ‘what will happen if Azerbaijan does not comply with the court’s decision?’ the RA representative said: “Azerbaijan’s non-implementation of such decisions will at least cause reputation problems for the country and other complications. The Armenian side should do everything to remind Azerbaijan and the international community of this new obligation.”
According to Kirakosyan, the court’s decision came into force from the moment of publication.
