At the session of the Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the National Assembly, Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan announced that the exploitation of Amulsar will start soon.

“We are trying to change the economic structure so that mining does not become a dominant industry, but the reduction of mining is not the goal. However, you should know that the decrease in mining occurred due to the shutdown of the 2nd largest mine, that is, the Teghut mine. The owner and collaborators have been sanctioned, so it was not possible for the company to use its economic activities,” the Minister said.

According to Kerobyan, they are working to find solutions that will allow to resume the operation of the mine.

“I should also say that today we will sign documents related to the other largest mine, which will signal the resumption of that mine. Today, at 17:00 we will sign a package worth USD 250 million,” Kerobyan said.
