The total – exclusively civilian – staff of the EUMA will be approximately 100։ Embassy of Sweden in Armenia

The European Union Mission in Armenia (EUMA), n to contribute to the stability of the border zones has been launched. The Swedish Embassy in Armenia issued  a message about this:

“Yesterday, Ambassador of Sweden Patrik Svensson attended the launch of the European Union Mission in Armenia (EUMA), the civilian mission under the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) tasked with observing and reporting on the security situation along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

The objectives of this deployment are to contribute to stability in the border areas of Armenia, build confidence and human security in conflict-affected areas, and ensure an environment conducive to the normalisation efforts between Armenia and Azerbaijan supported by the EU.

The total – exclusively civilian – staff of the EUMA will be approximately 100, including around 50 unarmed observers.

The Operational Headquarters of the mission will be in Yeghegnadzor, in Armenia’s Vayots Dzor province.

We are pleased that #Sweden is a part of the mission with monitors on the ground.”
