Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a press conference today, on 10 January, speaking about the issue of Artsakh, which has been under siege for almost a month.
Answering the question whether it is true that if the Lachin Corridor is not opened within a certain time frame, then Armenia is going to leave the CSTO, he said: “I don’t think that we should talk to our partners with an ultimatum. What we have to say about the given situation has already been made public and by and large there is nothing to add. Public evaluations were given to the fact of closing the Lachin Corridor,” he said.
Nikol Pashinyan elaborated that, in his opinion, what is happening in Artsakh aims to break the will of the people to live in their own homeland.
According to the Prime Minister, according to point 6 of the Trilateral Statement of 9 November, 2020, the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation have legal obligations regarding the Lachinch Corridor. “If you have paid attention, in point 6 of the Trilateral Statement, which refers to the Lachin Corridor, there is no wording regarding the Republic of Armenia. And we think that our actions should be fully legitimate in this regard as well,” said Pashinyan.
