On 7 January, 2023, around 4:10 p.m., on the 62.5th kilometer of the Sevan-Martuni-Getap highway, “Vaz 21703” car driven by a resident of Lichk settlement of Martuni extended community and “Opel” car driven by a resident of Vardenik settlement of the same community collided. As a result of the resulting fire, the drivers of the two cars and all the passengers – a total of six people, including two small children died.

According to Gor Abrahamyan, the spokesperson of the Investigative Committee, in connection with the mentioned tragic incident, criminal proceedings were initiated in the Martuni Investigative Unit of the Investigative Department of the Gegharkunik Marz of the RA Investigative Committee under the features of Article 242, Part 3 of the RA Criminal Code (Breach of traffic rules and operation of means of transportation by the driver of a car or other mechanical means of transportation, which negligence caused the death of 2 or more persons,).

An investigation has started.
