Minister of Internal Affairs and Deputy Ministers will be appointed next week: Nikol Pashinyan

The Police, the Rescue Service and the Migration and Citizenship Service will be transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to be formed by the decision of the Government, thereby revoking the sub-clause referring to the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the paragraph on the Migration Service. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that they are in the process of creating a “de jure” Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“We will appoint ministers and deputy ministers next week, until then, we are making this decision in order to approve the structure of the ministry as a whole,” the Prime Minister said.

He mentioned that the Ministry of Internal Affairs will continue to exist for another four months to ensure the smooth passage of this process.

“The Head of the Police and the Head of the Rescue Service will be deputies of the Minister of Internal Affairs. The Minister of the Internal will also have two deputies on civil issues, one of whom will develop a strategy for the Police and the interior system, and the other will coordinate the activities of the civil sector,” Pashinyan said.

The Prime Minister mentioned that he set a task to start the process of voluntary certification of police and rescue workers as soon as possible: wages will be doubled.
