Today, on 23 December, the National Assembly is discussing the issue of second reading and full adoption of the package of Draft Laws on making Amendments and Additions to the Constitutional Law “Judicial Code of the Republic of Armenia”.
Deputy Minister of Justice Armenuhi Harutyunyan presented the draft.
“Comprehensive solutions have been given to many procedural and other problems. The package provides for the establishment of the Anti-Corruption Court of Appeal, which investigates corruption crimes and has judges both, on criminal and civil cases. There is no need to increase the number of new judges, as the currently appointed judges, who are examining anti-corruption cases, will continue to serve under the transitional provisions of the law,” the Deputy Minister said.
According to her, taking into account the need to improve the simplified proceedings, it was proposed to change the speedy trial and to issue a payment order, in order to expand the scope of the cases examined under the simplified procedure, it was proposed to increase the current dram threshold from 2 million to 5 million drams.
