Former President of the National Assembly Galust Sahakyan has passed away.

We present his biography.

He was born in on 8 April, 1948 in Yerevan.

In 1971 graduated from Yerevan State University, Philologist:

1970-1972 – Locksmith at the Yerevan silk factory.

1972-1991 worked in the educational system: in school No. 30 – teacher, in schools No. 94 and No. 153 – deputy director, in schools No. 3 and No. 185 – Director.

In 1991-1996 was the deputy chairman of the executive committee of Mashtots District Council of Yerevan, the first deputy.

1995-1999: Member of the National Assembly (constituency No. 32). Member of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Affairs. Member of the “Republic” Faction, then the “Yerkrapah” Parliamentary Group.

1999-2003: Member of the National Assembly (on the proportional electoral list of the “Unity” Alliance).

Deputy Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Affairs. A member of the Unity faction, then a leader.

On 25 May, 2003, he was elected a deputy of the National Assembly on the proportional electoral list of the RPA. Member of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs. Head of RPA faction. RPA Board Member.

He had two children.
