The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Ms Anna Vardapetyan was on a working visit to Shirak marz on 3 December.
Anna Vardapetyan held a meeting at the Shirak Marz Prosecutor’s Office located in Gyumri community, which was attended by Shirak Marz Governor Ms Nazeli Baghdasaryan, the newly appointed Regional Prosecutor Armen Chichoyan, the heads of the National Security Service, the Investigative Committee, the Regional Police structures, the prosecutors of the Marz Prosecutor’s Office and the Military Prosecutor of the Shirak Garrison.
Before the substantive discussion, the Prosecutor General, congratulated Armen Chichoyan on assuming the position of regional prosecutor and expressed confidence that the professional and human qualities of the newly appointed prosecutor will allow him to smoothly and effectively organize relations with the representatives of partner law enforcement structures in the region, to be meticulous regarding criminal cases that are being investigated for more than eight months; regarding the issue of bringing the proceedings to a close, to offer their solutions in a short period of time, stressing that human destinies are behind the proceedings, and delays and inaction by law enforcement agencies can lead to irreversible consequences.
Governor Nazeli Baghdasaryan welcomed the visit of the Prosecutor General to Shirak Marz, highlighted the appointment of the new regional prosecutor and expressed confidence that Armen Chichoyan will contribute to the strengthening of legality in Shirak.
Regional Prosecutor Chichoyan thanked Chief Prosecutor Vardapetyan for her trust and noted that they will do their best to resolve particularly problematic and protracted proceedings in a short period of time.
During the consultation, the Prosecutor General of the RA referred to the return to the citizens of non-expropriation areas and parks, which are under the control of specific persons in violation of the law, to the effective use of tools for the protection of state interests along with criminal proceedings, to increasing the efficiency of partnership work between law enforcement structures, and also demanded meticulous, uncompromising, effective and without delays in the ongoing proceedings in connection with the works carried out in violation of the law with state budget funds and subsidy programs, emphasizing in that context that the expenditures made from taxpayers’ funds, including subsidy programs, should be targeted and effective.
The Prosecutor General gave instructions on all the discussed issues and set deadlines for their implementation.
