Avoid the worst developments. Gagik Tsarukyan, leader of the “Prosperous Armenia” Party, issued a statement with such a title.

“Today we are in a difficult and highly responsible historical period. The extreme danger of the situation forces us to speak openly, without any conventions or footnotes.

The encouragement of anti-Russian sentiments is obvious in Armenia today. This cannot but worry any Armenian who is concerned about our security issues.

Today, the security of small but proud Artsakh is ensured exclusively thanks to Russian peacekeepers. The authors of the anti-Russian campaign are simply putting 150,000 Artsakh Armenians at risk of physical extermination. Do they realize it or is it all the same to them?

The démarches of various circles towards Russia, the ill-considered formulations and steps can also lead to the collapse of Armenia’s economy. Do they realize this or do they not care?

Is there an understanding that the main export market is Russia, that tens of thousands of Armenian families live thanks to work abroad in Russia? Is there an understanding that Armenia’s energy system is completely dependent on Russian energy carriers?

All parties, all political forces, all parliaments are passing. National interests are permanent. We cannot endanger the security of the state and people, economic stability.

Of course, Armenia should have good relations with the West, with its neighbors, but it cannot be in the logic of “against Russia”. Armenia should continue to develop its strategic relations with Russia.

We need mutual trust, joint serious projects, a practical working atmosphere, and the will to resolve the issues that arise quickly and in a working atmosphere. This should be at the core of Armenian-Russian relations.

I am sure that our people correctly assess the historical risks, and with their wisdom and prudence, they will be able to avoid the worst developments,” the statement states.
