Information is circulating in the press that Judge of the General Jurisdiction Court of Yerevan Arusyak Aleksanyan and lawyer Erik Aleksanyan were arrested by the National Security Service.

In response to the question of Iravaban.net whether the Supreme Judicial Council has such information, Lilit Shaboyan, Head of the Press and Public Relations Service of the Supreme Judicial Council, said:

“As part of the criminal proceedings, actions against the judge are carried out, ensuring the confidentiality of the pre-trial criminal proceedings, respect for the judge’s authority and independence, excluding any direct or indirect interference in the judge’s activities. Therefore, neither the content of the petition nor personal data can be transferred to the judge.”

It should be noted that Arusyak Aleksanyan was the judge who made the decision to arrest producer Armen Grigoryan.

Notably, on 21 July, the judge of the First Instance Court of the General Jurisdiction of Yerevan Arusyak Aleksanyan submitted an application to terminate the membership of the Union of Judges.
