A 7-8 Magnitude Earthquake in Iran: it was felt in Armenia as well

On 5 October, at 04:21 local time (at 00:21 GMT), the seismological network of the Seismic Protection Territorial Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia registered a 5.5 magnitude earthquake at the geographic coordinates of 38.35⁰ north latitude and 45.72⁰ east longitude, 9 km southwest from the city of Marand, Iran, 10 km deep epicenter.

The strength of the underground shock in the epicenter zone was 7-8 points.

The earthquake was felt in Syunik Marz with a magnitude of 5-6 points, in Vayots Dzor and Ararat marzes with a magnitude of 3-4 points, in Kotayk Marz, in Yerevan and in the city of Stepanakert of the Artsakh Republic with a magnitude of 3 points.
