Mirjana Spoljaric took over the position of the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross from October 1st, succeeding Peter Maurer.

“We are living in difficult times: on the one hand, conflicts continue to cause human tragedy, on the other hand, climate change hits the most vulnerable groups. The humanitarian work of the ICRC and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is needed now more than ever,” Spoljaric said.
