The identities of 13 of the 16 citizens who died as a result of the explosion in “Surmalu” have been revealed.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Hayk Kostanyan, said in a conversation with journalists.

“The list of 13 also includes the pregnant woman and the child. At the moment, the number of missing people is 10,” he said.

All the victims were RA citizens. According to Hayk Kostanyan, around 100 rescuers are working on the spot; volunteers of the Red Cross and “VOMA” NGO are working with them as well.

“There was a danger of collapse from the very first moment, so we have implemented certain actions from the point of view of safety in order to protect both the rescuers and the employees who are involved in the works,” he said.

According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a day of mourning will be announced by the decision of the Government.

Let’s remind that on 14 August, at 1:23 p.m., the National Crisis Management Center received an alert that an explosion and fire occurred in the “Surmalu” Shopping Center located at 15 Arshakunyats Street in Yerevan, as a result of which the three-story building partially collapsed.
