Today, on 23 June, the Supreme Judicial Council announced the decision to subject to disciplinary liability the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council Ruben Vardazaryan (powers suspended).
By the decision of the SJC, the motion to subject Vardazaryan to disciplinary responsibility was upheld.
“Terminate the powers of SJC member, chairman, Judge of the Court of First Instance of the city of Yerevan Ruben Vardazaryan on the grounds of a significant disciplinary violation. The decision enters into force from the moment of publication, it is final. It was signed by Gagik Jhangiryan, Grigor Bekmezyan, Davit Khachaturyan, Mesrop Makyan, Liparit Melikjanyan, Stepan Mikayelyan, Ani Mkhitaryan, Sergey Chichoyan, and Vigen Kocharyan.
Mesrop Makyan and Sergey Chichoyan have special opinions. Ani Mkhitaryan is against, she also has a special opinion,” the Acting Chairman of the SJC Gagik Jhangiryan stated.
He also emphasized that the decision was made on 16 June, it is simply published today.
It should be reminded that according to the submitted motion, the reason for filing a motion to subject Ruben Vardazaryan to disciplinary liability was the statements made by Ruben Vardazaryan in the Constitutional Court’s on the decision No. SDO-1150 of 6 May, 2022, during the interview with online ArmDaily on 10 May, 2022 , which, according to the Commission, violate the rules of conduct of a member of the Supreme Judicial Council.
