101 veterans of the Patriotic War currently live in Armenia

Currently, there are 101 veterans of the Patriotic War living in Armenia. The youngest of them is 96 years old, the oldest is 101.

Chairman of the Union of Veterans of the Republic of Armenia, Colonel Simon Yesayan said that 11 out of 101 veterans are women.

Simon Yesayan noted that this year the six veterans living in Armenia will celebrate their 100th anniversary.

“There are veterans living in Yerevan and in the regions,” he added.

Referring to the events of 9 May, Simonyan said that on that day the veterans will lay wreaths and flowers at the grave of an unknown soldier in Victory Park, take part in a military parade, after which they will be hosted at the Russian Embassy in Armenia.

The RA Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs that veterans participating in the Patriotic War are provided with honorariums, bonuses and pensions by the state.

“The honorarium provided to a special group of citizens is 100,000 drams a month. 132 veterans receive honorarium in Armenia. The amount of bonuses and pensions is not clearly fixed,” the ministry informed.

The department provides 18 million drams a year to the Union of Veterans of the Republic of Armenia NGO.
