World Chocolate Day – 11 July

The Chocolate fans celebrate the World Chocolate Day on 11 July. The day was first celebrated in France in 1995.
It is considered that chocolate was first made by the Aztec Indians who called it the “Food of Gods.” The Spanish conquistadors were the first to bring chocolate to Europe and called it “the black gold.” Then the chocolate was used for strengthen the physical force and immunity.
Initially only the aristocrats used chocolate in Europe. The women from the elite considered the chocolate as an aphrodisiac food. Mother Teresa had a weakness for chocolate, whereas Madame Pompadour believed that only chocolate could inflame the passion fire.
In the beginning of the 20th century, when the chocolate industry developed, the common people, who were not considered as aristocrats, also gained the advantage to eat chocolate.
