Although not very often but still it happens that you unwittingly find someone’s things – what to do in this situation?
When you find a lost thing you should notify immediately the person who lost it or to owner of the property or someone who is entitled to receive this property and finally to return it. If the things are found in buildings or in transport they should be delivered to the owner or possessor of these building or the transport. In this case the person who receives the lost things undertakes the rights and obligations of a person who found the property. If it’s impossible to find the owner of the lost things, then the person who found those should report about it to the police or municipal bodies.
If you find lost things you may keep them or hand to the police, to the municipal bodies or the person recommended by these bodies.
Perishable goods or the property with disproportionately high maintenance costs as compared with its price may be sold by the person who found the property with obligatory certification of received revenue proved by the written evidence. This revenue should be returned to the person who is entitled to receive it.
The person who found the property is responsible for the loss or damage of the property within the limits of this property’s price only in case of being guilty.
