By the decision of the National Assembly, the use of wild animal species in Armenian circuses will be banned.
“Adoption of the draft package is conditioned by the need of protection, conservation, reproduction and sustainable use of wildlife objects in the Republic of Armenia, the regulation of legal relations and reduction of administration of wild animals, including animals registered in the Red Book, in captive and semi-free conditions, as well as the obligations of the Republic of Armenia under the UN Convention on Biological Diversity,” Deputy Minister of Environment Gayane Gabrielyan said.
The draft stipulates that the use of wild animal species included in the list approved by the authorized body in the Republic of Armenia for the protection of wildlife is prohibited in circuses.
