On the initiative of the Armenian Lawyers’ Association, today, on 9 February, focus group discussions were held on actions 1-6 arising from the Implementation Action Plan of the Anti-Corruption Strategy of the Republic of Armenia for 2019-2022.
The first of the discussions was held with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, the Academy of Justice, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministry of Finance, the Police, and the Armenian Lawyers’ Association.
The second discussion was held with CSOs, advocacy and legal community representatives.
Actions 1 to 6 provide ․
- Forming the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption and ensuring the regular operation thereof,
- Formation of an anti-corruption law enforcement body vested with functions of revealing and investigating corruption related crimes and granted with sufficient guarantees of independence – the Anti-Corruption Committee,
- Establishment of specialized anti-corruption courts,
- Establishment of a department in the RA General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, carrying out supervision over the investigation of corruption crimes,
- Building capacities of the bodies, non-governmental organizations responsible for drafting Anti-Corruption Policy,
- Ensuring the regular operation of the donor coordination mechanism.
It should be added that a total of 12 similar discussions have already been held on the Judicial and Legal Reform Strategy.
