At the regular sitting of the National Assembly, convened on 8 February, in the second reading, the Package of the Draft Laws “On Making Amendments and Addenda to the Constitutional Law RA Judicial Code” and “On Making Amendments to the RA Criminal Procedure Code” authored by NA Deputies Vladimir Vardanyan and Vahagn Hovakimyan were discussed.

According to the main speaker Vladimir Vardanyan, a number of changes were made from the first to second readings. In particular, the criteria related to the jurisdiction of the Supreme Judicial Council in case of appearing in court were clarified, as well as the number of votes needed to make relevant decisions.
The purpose of the amendments and additions proposed by the draft package is to ensure the effective conduct of judicial hearings, the proper realization of the rights and legitimate interests of their participants, the need to review and resolve cases in a timely manner, and the strengthening of institutional guarantees for the normal functioning of courts.
Arthur Davtyan presented the positive conclusion of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs.
RA Deputy Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan presented the positive point of view of the Government. The Deputy Minister noted that the authors accepted the proposals of the executive.
