93 judges collected signatures demanding to convene an extraordinary meeting of judges.

In a conversation with Iravaban.net, Judge Arshak Vardanyan of the Criminal Court of Appeal mentioned that he had signed the letter addressed to Judge of the RA Court of Cassation Lilit Tadevosyan.

In particular the letter says, “Concerned about the persecution of judges in connection with their activities, the established practice of targeting judges in connection with decisions made in certain public cases, which is also manifested by the article not actually applied from the moment of adoption of the RA Criminal Code (Article 348, Part 3 of the RA Criminal Code), the criminal prosecution against Judge Boris Bakhshiyan of the Court of General Jurisdiction of the RA Syunik Region, feeling a real threat to the independence of the judiciary and judges, guided by the Article 74, Part 3 of the Constitutional Law RA Judicial Code, we mediate to urgently organize an extraordinary general meeting of judges, assign the meeting day and include the following issues in the agenda: Issuance of a statement by the General Assembly of Judges on the exclusion of pressure on the judiciary and judges in relation to their activities; take appropriate measures to ensure a real guarantee of the independence of judges.”
