The motion to initiate criminal proceedings against the judge has no connection with Ashot Minasyan’s case: Gor Abrahamyan

The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia in compliance with the procedure provided by law, submitted motions to the RA SJC to provide consent to initiating a criminal prosecution and deprivation of liberty of Judge B.B. of the Court of First Instance of Syunik Marz within the framework of a criminal case being investigated by the RA NSS Investigation Department. Adviser to the Prosecutor General Gor Abrahamyan stated this in a conversation with Iravaban.net.

“Pursuant to the provision of Article 51, Clause 7 of the Judicial Code, that actions against a judge are carried out Within the scope of criminal proceedings, actions with regard to the judge may be carried out by ensuring maximum confidentiality of the pre-trial criminal proceedings, respect for the reputation and independence of a judge, excluding any direct or indirect intervention into the activities of a judge. No additional information about the case can be provided.

“In order not to give rise to unnecessary speculations, I can only mention that the circumstances and facts under investigation in the criminal case, which have nothing to do with Ashot Minasyan’s case, refer to the much earlier case and the revelations made much earlier,” he said

Earlier, Aleksander Azaryan, Chairman of the Association of Judges issued a statement expressing concern he criminal prosecution and deprivation of immunity (including personal liberty) of Judge Boris Bakhshiyan of the Court of First Instance of Syunik Marz, by the Prosecutor’s Office and the NSS Investigation Department, in connection with the judicial prosecution process, which is conditioned by the judge’s activities.
