The Minister of High Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan mentioned in a conversation with journalists that as a member of the Government and political team he can appear in the list of candidates for the President of the Republic of Armenia, but as long as there is no protocol of the NA Speaker, it is tomorrow.

According to the minister, there has been no conversation with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan yet.

“As long as there is no decision of the RA NA President at the moment, by which the incumbent President’s powers are terminated, that conversation should take place tomorrow and it will not be nice for us to comment today, the person still has the opportunity to withdraw the application,” Khachaturyan said.

To the question why his biography has been edited and there is no information about joining the Armenian National Congress, he said that it is his fault,  “Since 2017, I have stopped my party activities, I consider myself non-partisan.”

Notably, on 23 January, RA President Armen Sarkissian announced his resignation.

If the RA President Armen Sarkissian does not withdraw his resignation within a week, a protocol on the termination of his powers will be drawn up, and the NA President will sign it, the resignation will be considered accepted from the moment of publication.
