There are rumors in the press that an attempt is being made to thwart the election of the Chairman of the Association of Judges of the Republic of Armenia. It should be noted that Aleksander Azaryan, a judge of the Criminal Court of Appeal, is nominated. Judge Elizaveta Danielyan of the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation has self-nominated as well.

It should be noted that today, on 14 January, an extraordinary general meeting of judges is scheduled to take place at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex.

In a briefing with journalists, Judge Azaryan said. “I also have information that there is an intention to thwart the election of the Chairman of the Associationl. I cannot say whether the information is true or not. I came to be elected; my expectation is to be elected. I consider my chances as high, what are we talking about? ”

He noted that in case the functions of the Association of Judges are properly exercised, judges who have left the Association will return.
