The representative of the Republic of Armenia in the ECHR Yeghishe Kirakosyan, in his Twitter micro blog, referred to the decision published by the UN International Court of Justice ․
“The court granted almost all the provisional measures requested by Armenia against Azerbaijan and rejected most of the measures requested by Azerbaijan. Armenia welcomes the decision of the court and hopes that Azerbaijan and its high-ranking officials will ensure the practical implementation of this decision,” the decision notes.
It should be reminded that today the UN International Court of Justice announced the decision on Armenia’s lawsuit against Azerbaijan. Iravaban.net presented the important points of the decision.
The court granted almost all of Armenia’s requests and decided to oblige Azerbaijan to ensure the protection and security of the rights of Armenian prisoners of war, prevent racial hatred and discrimination against Armenians by Azerbaijani officials and public bodies, prevent vandalism and desecration of Armenian cultural heritage, and refrain from any action which might aggravate or extend the dispute before the Court or make it more difficult to resolve.
The court granted only a small part of Azerbaijan’s claims and decided to oblige Armenia to , take all necessary measures to prevent the incitement and promotion of racial hatred, including by organizations and private persons in its territory, targeted at persons of Azerbaijani national or ethnic origin and refrain from any action which might aggravate or extend the dispute before the Court or make it more difficult to resolve.
