During the budget discussions at the joint sittings of the standing committees of the National Assembly, the Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan stated that a pregnant woman has died of coronavirus at night.
“This delta strain, unlike the strain circulating last year, is exposed to a rather aggressive process. Pregnant women are more at risk if they become infected with this strain. We have more than 100 pregnant women, half of whom have pneumonia of varying severity, and our team of doctors is doing our best to provide them with the best medical care,” the minister said.
According to her, the epidemic situation remains tense. During the last 2 weeks, school vacations and conducting the lessons online at universities has had a certain positive trend.
“Over the past week, the mask wearing regime has been tightened. There is some positive progress, but deaths from the disease can be avoided only through vaccinations. Vaccines are the means that ultimately lead to stabilization of the situation and reduction of deaths in countries,” Anahit Avanesyan said.
The minister said that as of yesterday, 890,797 vaccinations had been carried out. 276 948 people have received the second dose.
