The commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno Karabakh, Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov, visited in Stepanakert Jamil Babayev, a serviceman of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, who was found in Martakert and detained by law enforcement agencies. Rustam Muradov got acquainted with his health condition.

“At Babayev’s request, he will be given the opportunity to contact relatives and family members,” the statement said.

Earlier, the Artsakh Prosecutor General’s Office reported that Jamil Babayev, a serviceman of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, was found in an apartment in Martakert and was taken to the Artsakh National Security Service. A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the cases of espionage illegally crossing the state border of Artsakh, threatening to kill the minor residents of the mentioned apartment. The Artsakh Investigative Committee accepted the case. The Azerbaijani soldier was arrested.
