Eduard Aghajanyan, MP of the “Civil Contract” Faction of the RA National Assembly, wrote on his Facebook page,
“August 30 is symbolic in terms of the importance of international humanitarian law and international human rights law, as in 2010, it was declared by the UN General Assembly as the International Day for the Victim of Enforced Disappearances.
In this context, I consider it necessary to once again draw the attention of international partners to one of the issues on the agenda for the Republic of Armenia, namely, the immediate and unconditional release of Armenian prisoners of war, civilians, who are being held illegally in Azerbaijan.
Even taking into account the available evidence of the above, the Azerbaijani authorities continue to deny the indisputable fact of inhuman treatment and torture of the hostages.
Such legal arbitrariness should not take place in a modern, healthy society, being inadmissible in terms of violation of inalienable human rights.
Despite the obvious manifestations of the anti-Armenian policy adopted by the Azerbaijani authorities, the proper response and support of a number of states and international organizations aimed at stabilizing the situation is highly appreciated.
Thus, we call on the international community and the international human rights organizations, to take more active steps to stop Azerbaijan’s illegal actions.”
