CPC member Shushan Sargsyan supports Russia’s initiative to fight cross-border anti-competitive agreements

CPC member Shushan Sargsyan participated in the sessions of the meetings of intergovernmental expert groups of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

Shushan Sargsyan, a member of the Commission for the Protection of Competition, participated in the 5th session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Competition and Consumer Policy and Policy and at the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Competition Legislation and Policy of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development

The agenda of the sessions included a wide range of issues related to cooperation in the field of competition. In particular, the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Competition Legislation and Policy discussed issues related to competition legislation, policies and regulations in the digital age, competition advocacy during the COVID-19 epidemic and in the post-epidemic period; the main results and prospects of the work of the working group of the UN Conference on Trade and Development against cross-border anti-competitive agreements (cartels). Members of the Competition Protection Commission of Armenia Hayk Karapetyan and Shushan Sargsyan are also included in the working group.

In her speech, Shushan Sargsyan, emphasizing the role of joint initiatives on effective control over restrictive actions at the international and regional levels, expressed support for the initiative of the Russian Federation to combat cross-border anti-competitive agreements (cartels).

Issues related to international experience and best practices in the application of competition law against cross-border cartels were also discussed, and expert assessments and reports on competition law and policies were presented.
