On 15 July, the Supreme Judicial Council held a hearing on the motion submitted by the RA Ministry of Justice to subject judge of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan Davit Grigoryan (powers have been suspended) to disciplinary liability․
At the beginning of the session, Liparit Melikjanyan, a member of the SJC, submitted a motion to withdraw, as in one of the civil cases,he is representing an opposing party to Judge Grigoryan to the trial.
It should be noted that the interview given to one of the media was the basis for initiating disciplinary proceedings against the judge.
In his motion to the SJC, the Deputy Minister of Justice stated that the judge had violated the general rules of conduct of a judge.
Meanwhile, Judge Grigoryan and his representatives insisted that the judge had made a judgment on the basis of factual evidence, and that the motion should be rejected.
By the decision of the SJC, today’s sitting was postponed, the next sitting will take place on 26 July, at 15:00.
