Azerbaijan has handed over 15 prisoners of war to Armenia in exchange for maps of minefields in Fizuli and Zangelan regions.
«TASS reported, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
A statement issued by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reads:
“We express our gratitude to the commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent temporarily stationed in Azerbaijan Rustam Muradov for mediation services in the implementation of the humanitarian initiative to obtain mine maps.”
Maps given to Azerbaijan indicate the location of 92,000 mines.
The RA government later informed about this, publishing the names of the returned prisoners of war.
“Today, on 3 July, 15 Armenian captives captured by Azerbaijan returned to Armenia with the mediation of the Russian side. As a manifestation of goodwill, the Armenian side provided Azerbaijan with maps of minefields in the Fizuli and Zangelan regions.
