On 24.06.2021, the Chamber of Advocates of the Republic of Armenia organized a consultation on the effectiveness of providing legal assistance to Armenian prisoners of war in the ongoing trials in Azerbaijan.

The Chairman of the RA Chamber of Advocates Ara Zohrabyan, the First Deputy Chairman Mane Karapetyan, the Deputy Chairman Harut Aklunts, lawyers Hayk Alumyan and Ara Ghazaryan took part in the consultation.
The representative of the Republic of Armenia in the European Court of Human Rights Yeghishe Kirakosyan and the deputy representative Liparit Drmeyan were present at the consultation. The representative of the Republic of Armenia at the ECHR provided the lawyers with general information on the progress of the cases on Armenian prisoners of war being considered by the European Court of Human Rights.
The lawyers discussed the issue of the need to provide legal assistance to Armenian prisoners of war in Azerbaijan, as well as to identify, justify and identify possible violations. The lawyers expressed concern that Azerbaijan would obstruct the provision of legal assistance to Armenian prisoners of war by Armenian lawyers.
As a result of the discussion, the Chamber of Advocates decided to apply to the competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia, the competent authorities of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Bar Association, as well as other international organizations to provide legal assistance to Armenian prisoners of war through lawyers of the Republic of Armenia.
