Tigran Ambardanyan the brother of Mels Ambardanyan, who was taken prisoner in Azerbaijan, issued a statement late in the evening of 23 June that together with the parents of the other boys taken prisoner, demand the current Armenian authorities to make a claim against Azerbaijan, to “immediately stop the false trial against our brothers and return them to Armenia without preconditions.”
He told reporters that they would go on an indefinite sit-in strike in front of the government if they did not achieve the desired result.
“All this will end when our boys come back or to some extent we realize that they are safe in Azerbaijan,” he said.
