We will soon have independent and professional judges։ Rustam Badasyan

Acting Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Rustam Badasyan referred to the decision of the Constitutional Court ․

“On 3 February of this year, the RA National Assembly adopted the Constitutional Law “On Making Amendments and Addenda to the Constitutional Law of the Judicial Code of the Republic of Armenia” (the draft package ensuring the specialization of judges exercising judicial control over pre-trial proceedings).

The President did not sign it; he applied to the RA Constitutional Court with a demand to check the constitutionality of a number of provisions.

About four months later, the RA Constitutional Court recognized the law as constitutional.

I am really sorry that the implementation of this important draft, which obviously had no problem with the Constitution, was delayed for four months, and it is also obvious that some “independent lawyers” who are fighting to apply to the Constitutional Court are just not interested in judicial reform.

Judicial reforms will be implemented․ We will soon have independent and professional judges overseeing pre-trial proceedings, and public confidence in the judiciary will increase in these cases.

“Reforms will CONTINUE to be implemented,” he said.
