Goris Deputy Mayor Irina Yolyan wrote on her Facebook page:
“Everything is peaceful in Goris community. Fortunately, there were no shootings on our borders, fortunately there are no other incidents. The enemy is still on our border, but there is no incident, thank God. The boys are vigilant at the border.”
Notably, today, on 25 May, the Defebse Ministry informed that a contract soldier, junior sergeant V. Y. Khurshudyan (born in 1989) was fatally wounded as a result of a shootout started after the enemy opened fire in the Verin Shorzha border area of Gegharkunik region.
The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia expresses deep condolences to the family members, relatives and colleagues of the killed soldier.
The situation is under control at the moment, there is no shootings.
It should be reminded that on 12 May, some groups of servicemen of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces crossed the state border of Armenia and took actions to enclose Sev Lich (Black Lake). The Armenian Armed Forces carried out tactical countermeasures.
On 23 May, the Ministry of Defense reported that in the evening of 22 May, a part of the personnel of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces who had entered the territory of Armenia returned to the starting positions. The statement circulating in the press that “there are more than 1,000 Azerbaijani servicemen near Sev Lich (Black Lake) of Syunik region” does not correspond to reality.
On 25 May, the Ministry of Defense reported that at around 2:20 pm, an incident with the use of a firearm was registered in the border part of Verin Shorzha, Gegharkunik region of the Republic of Armenia. In particular, the enemy fired at the Armenian positions.
