RA Ministry of Defense informs:

“On 25 May, at around 2:20 pm, an incident with the use of a firearm was registered in the border part of Verin Shorzha, Gegharkunik region of the Republic of Armenia. In particular, the enemy fired at the Armenian positions. The details of the incident are being clarified.”

It should be reminded that on 12 May, some groups of servicemen of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces crossed the state border of Armenia and took actions to enclose Sev Lich (Black Lake). The Armenian Armed Forces carried out tactical countermeasures.

On 23 May, the Ministry of Defense reported that in the evening of 22 May, a part of the personnel of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces who had entered the territory of Armenia returned to the starting positions. The statement circulating in the press that “there are more than 1,000 Azerbaijani servicemen near Sev Lich (Black Lake) of Syunik region” does not correspond to reality.

The units of the Armenian Armed Forces are in full control of the situation, continuing to keep the Azerbaijani military blocked.

It should be noted that on 20 May, the Ministry of Defense again issued a statement that an incident had been registered with the participation of Azerbaijani servicemen who had crossed the territory of the Republic of Armenia in the border part of Gegharkunik region.

“At around 15:00, several dozen shots were fired, presumably in the air, after which the Armenian subdivisions opened warning fire. The commander of the Azerbaijani military contacted the commander of the Armenian unit, asked him to stop the fire, apologized and said that the shooting was accidental. The Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia warns that the repetition of such incidents will be considered as a deliberate attempt to go to confrontation, will lead to the relevant actions of the Armenian side,” the statement said.
