The Bright Armenia Party has issued a statement saying ․
“Taking into account the fact that from May 12, 2021 until today, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, violating the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia and using weapons, have not left the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia.
Taking into account the fact that Azerbaijan has in fact violated the basic principles (jus cogens) enshrined in Article 2 of the UN Charter,
Taking into account the fact that Azerbaijan not only continues to occupy
a part of the territory of the Republic of Armenia, but also provokes an armed conflict, as a result of which today, on 25 May, servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia were killed and wounded,
Pursuant to Article 34 of the UN Charter, the UN Security Council has the power to investigate any dispute, or any situation which might lead to international friction or give rise to a dispute, in order to determine whether the continuance of the dispute or situation is likely to endanger the maintenance of international peace and security.
Pursuant to Article 35 (1) of the Charter of the United Nations, that any Member of the United Nations may bring any dispute, or any situation of the nature referred to in Article 34, to the attention of the Security Council or of the General Assembly;
Pursuant to Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, in particular Article 39, according to which The Security Council shall determine the existence of any threat to the peace, breach of the peace, or act of aggression and shall make recommendations, or decide what measures shall be taken in accordance with Articles 41 and 42, to maintain or restore international peace and security.
We urge the Government of the Republic of Armenia, in the person of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to immediately apply to the UN Security Council on the grounds of aggression by Azerbaijan, threatening international peace and violation of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia.
