Blogger Alexander Lapshin has opened an account at Artsakhbank to receive 30,000 Euros in compensation from Azerbaijan by the European Court of Human Rights.
The blogger wrote about this on his Facebook page.
Later Alexander Lapshin wrote:
“Frankly, I feel a little sorry for Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. He had not felt such humiliation for a long time. At first, he personally and at the highest level commented on this whole story of my arrest, discussed it with Lukashenko, boasted, sent his private plane to take me me with special forces, made statements on the supremacy of “Azerbaijani justice” in the case of traveler Lapshin. It all started so elegantly.
But then things started to go awry. My case came to a standstill without knowing what to do next, and they were embarrassed in front of the whole world and criticized by the European Union, Russia, Israel, the United States and all human rights organizations.”
Lapshin also commented on one of his photos․ “The Azerbaijani special forces who caught me on the left is Mirali Samedov. He is no more alive. He was killed near Martuni in October 2020, exactly three years later, when he and I were walking in front of the cameras at the Baku airport.
Honestly? I’m not happy that the Azeri soldier who made fun of me in the photo was killed. He is also someone’s son, perhaps the father of small children. I even feel sorry for him. He did not understand what he was doing and he is a victim of propaganda and big politics. May Allah be with him.
As we have already informed, Lapshin defeated Azerbaijan in the ECHR. “Victory! The European Court of Human Rights has ruled that the Azerbaijani authorities were guilty of attempted murder on me in a Baku prison and the use of brutal torture. Azerbaijan is obliged to pay me 30,000 Euros as compensation.”
It should be reminded that at the end of 2016, Lapshin was arrested in Minsk at the request of Azerbaijan, which included him in the “list” for visiting NKR without agreeing with Baku. The Prosecutor General’s Office of Belarus had decided to satisfy Azerbaijan’s request and extradite Lapshin. A court in Baku sentenced him to three years in prison. On 11September, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree pardoning Israeli citizen Alexander Lapshin. At the same time, it turned out that Lapshin was about to commit suicide in prison.
