Economic Development-Oriented Technologies To Be Designed

A Cabinet sitting was held today, chaired by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
To begin with, “Candle” Synchrotron Research Institute Foundation was established and its charter was approved by the meeting.
The foundation shall seek to develop synchrotron radiation sources, have radiation-based accelerator technologies designed and put into application, promote scientific, technological and research-innovation-related activities, train highly qualified research and teaching staff and so on.
“We have a group of talented physicists devoted to the cause. They helped us establish contacts with different foreign centers to get the needed technical and financial assistance. A few million euro-worth equipment has already been imported into the country. The center is a promising venture. I joined the President of the National Academy of Sciences last month to visit it and get a first-hand view of the ongoing programs. Our decision will help the Foundation get additional financial resources and establish the center,” the Prime Minister noted.

Social services are being set up in the provinces.

According to one of today’s decisions, sites have been allocated in Shirak, Gegharkunik and Vayots Dzor regions.
Amending a previously adopted decree on distribution of imported sunflower oil, the government decided that 3 bottles of sunflower oil will be provided to each of those 119 thousand households duly registered with the system of vulnerability.

The Executive amended a previous decree to ensure that the technical overhaul certificates issued for vehicles of common ownership are different from the ones provided by the banks for other vehicles in an effort to rule out the possibility of getting receipts from banks.
The meeting approved the procedures to follow in providing citizen’s identification cards and biometric data-based passports, according to which the passport number shall feature a combination of the serial number and seven digits, while the identification card number shall be composed of nine characters.
The government approved an action plan and a timetable for the development of small and medium-chemistry in 2012-2013, under which new technologies will be developed, export-oriented capacities and new jobs created.
