The Defender urges not to spread panic information about the state of Armenia’s borders, and the state to ensure the dissemination of complete information in a timely manner. The Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan reported.
“The situation with the borders in the Syunik region of the Republic of Armenia has been under the direct attention of the Human Rights Defender since early morning.
The Defender specifically states that issues related to borders are clearly of great public interest and sensitivity, and the public has the right to receive complete, clear and reliable information about the situation in a timely manner.
Therefore, the competent authorities should make every effort to disseminate official information in the information field as widely as possible, thus eliminating the spread of misinformation.
In addition to the above, the Human Rights Defender’s Office also registered misinformation, which caused panic and tension related to the RA borders. The ombudsman urges the media and social media users to refrain from spreading such information.
Both the ombudsman personally and the staff are in touch with the community and state authorities. Necessary steps are also being taken within the competence of the ombudsman,” the statement said.
